The biggest feature of the horizontal milling machining center is that the spindle is arranged in a horizontal direction. This structural design makes it more suitable for side processing and deep cavity processing tasks. The spindle is usually equipped with a high-speed electric spindle or servo motor drive, which can achieve multi-speed speed regulation and adapt to the cutting needs of various materials.
2. Worktable structure
The horizontal milling center is equipped with a rotatable worktable, usually a B-axis rotary table, which can achieve 360-degree continuous rotation or 4×90° indexing positioning. Some high-end equipment also has a five-axis linkage function, which can realize the processing of complex curved surfaces. This rotatable structure improves the processing flexibility of the workpiece, reduces the error of multiple clamping, and improves the precision.
3. High-rigidity bed structure
The bed is the foundation of the machine tool. CNC horizontal milling machining centers generally use an integrated cast iron bed or frame structure with good vibration resistance and thermal stability. Roller guides or linear guides are often used in the guide rail part, and the automatic lubrication system is used to ensure smooth movement and extend the life of the equipment.
4. Automatic tool change system (ATC)
Almost all horizontal milling machining centers are equipped with automatic tool change systems, generally chain or drum tool magazines, with the number of tool positions ranging from dozens to hundreds. With the control of the CNC system, the tool can be automatically changed according to the processing program, which significantly improves the processing efficiency and is particularly suitable for batch production of multi-process and complex parts.
5. Chip handling system
Since the horizontal structure is conducive to the natural fall of chips, most horizontal milling centers are equipped with spiral chip conveyors or chain chip removal systems, and combined with coolant systems to discharge chips in time. This is not only conducive to keeping the processing area clean, but also helps to extend the tool life and improve the processing quality.
6. High degree of automation and intelligent control
Modern CNC horizontal milling centers are equipped with advanced numerical control systems, such as FANUC, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc., with intelligent diagnosis, remote monitoring, automatic detection and other functions, which are convenient for operators to control the processing status in real time and improve production management efficiency.
